The Montagne Bourbonnaise and Livradois-Forez are a pleasure to discover on foot. The area is wonderful for wildlife and is steeped in history. There is a myriad of ancient footpaths and bridleways criss-crossing wooded hillsides with magnificent views across the Allier plain. Discover villages and hamlets, that are still connected with the traditional cutlery trade of Thiers. Explore the ancient churches, many of them with wall paintings.

There is a 2.5 - 3 hour circular walk up into the mountains behind Chateldon.
